Who are you?

Ada, it's me, Bisi, your big sister.

I don't have a sister.

Whatever you took from my sister, give it back.

Seven years ago,

your sister sold me her memories

for a record deal.

Tonight, I collect.

What are you?

Fae, and my kind cannot lie.

Then you just met her lawyer.

Read all you like, Counselor.

A bargain binds by its exact words.

It cannot break.

Every contract breaks. You just have to read it.

Whose cake is that?

Mine. You brought it for my birthday.

Her memories at the height of her fame.

Seven years ago, she had a hit song.

Last month, her label dropped her.

She played a bar for 11 people.

She never reached her height.

It's still ahead of her.

You're early, by your own exact words.

Bisi?

It's him. The man from my first show.

No mortal has beaten a fae bargain in three hundred years.

Corvane. King of the Thornhill Court. My kind give our

names only to equals.

Get out of my office.

I am bound by a contract older than your city. No fae can

argue against a bargain. Only a mortal can.

Break mine, and I will give you anything you ask.

Nothing's free with your kind.

Bisi. Don't sign anything.

Wise. Your mother didn’t think so.

What did you say?

Thirty-one years ago,

your mother came to me.

She was carrying you.

That's Mom's signature.

What does it say?

My firstborn daughter,

on her thirty-first birthday,

shall be his.

Mom signed you away?

Why would she do that?

That is hers to tell.

It's past midnight.

I'm thirty-one.

Your sister's memories were never the collection,

Counselor.

They were the audition.

You let me win.

I needed to see you read.

Your mother's contract

says you are mine.

It does not say as what.

By fae law,

a woman claimed

without a title

is a bride.

So choose your title,

Counselor.

My advocate...

or my bride.

I haven't chosen.

First, I read the

fine print.
